Who could save us?

In light of it being Easter week. We will be looking at the who, what, when, where, why, and how of the Easter story.

Who Could Save Us?

Jesus was the only person who ever lived who was able to save the world from death. The reason is that Everyone born in the line of Adam has a sin nature that separates us from God. The second we are born we are dying. This sin and death is past down through generation to generation through the father.

In Genesis 3:15

And I will put enmity
    between you and the woman,
    and between your offspring and hers;
he will crush your head,
and you will strike his heel.”

When Adam and Eve sinned they gave away the right to be with God. God told Satan that the woman’s offspring (he) will crush your head. Not a descendant of Adam and Eve, but hers.

Jesus was born of a woman and didn’t inherit the sin nature. He was just like Adam, in that, He started perfect and then had to make a choice to sin or not.

Jesus was fully God and fully man.

John 1:1-3 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God,and the Word was God.  He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.

John 1:14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.

Matthew 1:18-25 The Christmas Story. Born of a normal human woman…Mary.

Jesus was the only one who was born without sin and choose to live a sinless life. He also fulfilled 351 prophecies from the Old Testament! That is everyone about a coming King.

This is some of the reasons why it must have been Jesus. But in the end you will have to decide if you will trust that Jesus is who the bible says He was.

I will end with this from C.S. Lewis

“I am trying here to prevent anyone saying the really foolish thing that people often say about Him: I’m ready to accept Jesus as a great moral teacher, but I don’t accept his claim to be God. That is the one thing we must not say. A man who was merely a man and said the sort of things Jesus said would not be a great moral teacher. He would either be a lunatic — on the level with the man who says he is a poached egg — or else he would be the Devil of Hell. You must make your choice. Either this man was, and is, the Son of God, or else a madman or something worse. You can shut him up for a fool, you can spit at him and kill him as a demon or you can fall at his feet and call him Lord and God, but let us not come with any patronizing nonsense about his being a great human teacher. He has not left that open to us. He did not intend to.”

God Bless!
