Abram to Abraham

928854Abraham is an amazing example of faith. His story is found in Genesis 11-25.

So here we have this guy Abram. He is doing really well living in a very nice city. Some say he was a leader there, maybe like a Governor. But either way, he was well off. The only down side of his life was his wife wasn’t able to have children.

So God calls Abram to leave his town and go SOMEWHERE. Abram obeys. Abram didn’t really understand what God was doing. God said He would make Abram a great nation, but the problem is he had no kids.

Years later as Abram was living in blessing from God. He still didn’t understand what God had planned. When he was 86 Abram and Sarai thought they knew how to make God’s plan work…sooooo…Abram had a son with Sarai’s servant…

That wasn’t God’s plan…they didn’t understand what God was doing.

God appeared to Abram at 99 and said

“I am God Almighty; walk before me faithfully and be blameless. Then I will make my covenant between me and you and will greatly increase your numbers.”

So Abram fell to his face. When he did he must have repented for trying to make God’s plan work.

Then…God made a covenant with Him.

When God makes a covenant with His people it will come to pass.

God changed Abram’s name to show him how important and serious His covenant was.

By changing his name God is saying, “This covenant will change your life and not just your life, but you…your person-hood…your nature…your history…your future.”

Your name is very important to who you are and who you will be.

God has called everyone to go. When you are willing to follow God’s plan whether you understand it or not; He will make that same covenant with you.

When you fall to your face and follow His plan with all your heart He will change your name to Son or Daughter. With that new name you will have the right to live in blessing and life.

 God Bless!
