I don’t know about you, but I have had plenty of things come against me. So many things that I cant even count. Saying there was 1 a day would be an understatement.
This verse implies that if God is for us No one can be against us. But there are lots of things coming against us.
Paul is saying that if we allow God to be for us. Then nothing will be able to come against us. So often we jump in and try to do it on our own.
We want to be able to stand in life. But the only way to stand is to do it behind Christ who gave His life for us. We try to do it on our own just saving Christ for salvation. But He is there and wants to do so much more in your life.
He wants to be your strong tower
For you have been my refuge, a strong tower against the foe.
He wants to be your rock, your fortress, your protection, your shield, and your salvation.
The LORD is my rock, my fortress, and my savior; my God is my rock, in whom I find protection. He is my shield, the power that saves me, and my place of safety.
Why wont you let Him?
Its interesting the words that are chosen here. They all seem to mean the same thing…Protection, but when you really think about what they are they are different forms of protection.
Refuge – a condition of being safe or sheltered from pursuit, danger, or trouble.
Strong Tower – (Strong Means) able to withstand great force or pressure. (Tower Means) – a tall narrow building – a place of defense; a protection – rise to or reach a great height
Rock – the solid mineral material
Fortress – a heavily protected and impenetrable building.
Shield – a broad piece of metal or another suitable material, held by straps or a handle attached on one side, used as a protection against blows or missiles.
Ok so…What do these mean?
Christ wants to be your shelter when danger and trouble is pursuing you. He wants to be your protection when great force is all around. He will hold you high above and take the problems for you. He wants to be the firm place for you to stand on so you do slip and fall. He wants to be the impenetrable force standing between you and the trouble. He wants to be the thing that protects you when you are out in the middle of the trouble.
So what are you waiting for? Will you let Him be ALL you need?
Whether you are in a place of safety or not He will protect you. Jesus said,
“Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.”
When we let Christ be our protection NOTHING can come against us!
