My Grace is sufficient

2 Corinthians 12:9-10

But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

This idea of grace. Everyone in church is always talking about it. They love to quote “for it is by GRACE you were saved, Through Faith and THAT not of yourself is a gift of God.” And that is wonderful! It is true that we were ALL saved by grace…

Now wait a minute…it sounds like I’m saying EVERYONE is saved…

John 3:16

“For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.”

So according to the bible verse “everyone” knows…Yes God has given Grace to EVERYONE to be saved. There isn’t 1 person (you know like Hitler) who God hasn’t poured out Grace for to be saved. God has given grace to EVERYONE before the foundation of the world. Nothing you have done or will do will not effect His grace.

But just because we have been given grace doesn’t mean we do our part…Believe, Through faith, that God has saved us.

So Grace is given to all to be saved…

And that is where many Christians stop. Grace for salvation.

But The Lord told Paul “my Grace is sufficient for you.”

What what The Lord talking about?

Was He talking about Paul getting saved? Or was He talking about grace for living?

The grace that God sends is enough for salvation and for life. At the time many people where trying to get the church to follow the Jewish Law. They were telling people that they are saved by grace, but made righteous through the LAW.

This idea of saved by grace and made righteous through the Law…or a list of new rules…has come back into may churches.

We are saved through grace and we are made righteous through grace. At the moment we are saved we are made righteous.

2 Corinthians 5:17-21

This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!

And all of this is a gift from God, who brought us back to himself through Christ. And God has given us this task of reconciling people to him. For God was in Christ, reconciling the world to himself, no longer counting people’s sins against them. And he gave us this wonderful message of reconciliation. So we are Christ’s ambassadors; God is making his appeal through us. We speak for Christ when we plead, “Come back to God!” For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ.

No matter if we work really hard to be good or do some terrible things in the end all that matters is whether we trust that God saved us through Christ.

You might be thinking…You are saying its ok to sin…

Romans 6:1-4

Well then, should we keep on sinning so that God can show us more and more of his wonderful grace? Of course not! Since we have died to sin, how can we continue to live in it? Or have you forgotten that when we were joined with Christ Jesus in baptism, we joined him in his death? For we died and were buried with Christ by baptism. And just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glorious power of the Father, now we also may live new lives.

Jesus said it this way…

John 14:15

“If you love me, obey my commandments.”

SO we are to follow the LAW?!?!?!?!?

Matthew 22:37-39

Jesus replied, “‘You must love the LORD your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’This is the first and greatest commandment. A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.

What is Christ saying…When we have accepted  His grace then we will not go on sinning because we Love God. And what does it look like to not sin? Love God and Love people. Not following a list of Do’s and Don’ts, but continually doing things that show our love for God and our love for people.

So don’t make a list of rules saying I cant watch a rated R movie or smoke cigarets. Make choices that reflect God’s love and choices that point others first. So if I choose to smoke I won’t disrespect others by blowing smoke in their face or if I choose not to smoke I wont disrespect others who do smoke by talking about them or looking down on them.

My Grace is sufficient for you!

Seek God to help you make chooses that benefit the Kingdom of God. His Grace is there for you! If you make chooses then regret them later. His grace is sufficient. If you make chooses that other people (including Christians) look down on you for. His grace is sufficient.

Love God and Love Others!

God Bless!
